## The Tooth That Nearly Took a Life
### A Dentist's Harrowing Battle Against a Hidden Vascular Nightmare
A 21-year-old patient came to the clinic wanting to extract her lower premolar and it was moving a lot and it wouldn't take 3 seconds to extract it... She was given anesthesia and as soon as it was extracted... **a fountain of blood came out of the socket and literally reached the ceiling of the clinic and the patient started losing significant amounts of blood... We put the tooth back in place and with it fixed with metal wires the bleeding stopped completely**, fortunately for us, and the situation stabilized. We requested a CT angiography and the result was surprising. The arrow in this x-ray shows the presence of a hematoma or A-V malformation. And why the feeder vessel is very clear and the treatment plan was completely changed by transferring the case to the interventional radiology department to perform embolization and prepare her for future surgery if needed. I am writing this because this case came to a dental clinic on foot to extract a completely loose tooth and something very rare and unexpected happened that could have ended her life... She did surgery in a chair and no one held a scalpel to her mouth.
When we say she is fine, God bless her and has nothing to do with your skill as a doctor, people are surprised...
She came out fine, may God protect us all, and whoever lives will see many things in this profession, and we will all continue to learn.
