The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling COVID-19 an Infodemic more than an Epidemic or Pandemic. This is due to the immense amount of false and fake information doing rounds in our social media. To clear this cloud of confusion, here I’ll be jotting down the commonly asked questions regarding the Corona infection and answer them with references from trustworthy sources.
Why is COVERING COUGH/SNEEZE and WASHING HANDS the most important factor in this fight against Corona !!
Mode of Infection Spread of this Virus is person to person through respiratory droplets from nose and mouth. This can be direct through a cough/sneeze or indirect when you touch somewhere with the palms you used to cover your cough/sneeze.
If you have any respiratory symptoms, Covering your cough or your sneeze into your elbow fold instead of your hands. This is necessary to avoid droplets from your hand/mouth/nose to reach a nearby person directly or by touch directly or through a surface.
If you’re not an infected person, stay away from people with respiratory problems and wash your hands frequently in case you have carried a droplet while touching some surface.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
What to do if you develop symptoms !!
Stay home: People who are mildly ill with COVID-19 are able to recover at home. Do not leave, except to get medical care. Do not visit public areas.
Stay in touch with your doctor: Call before you get medical care. Be sure to get care if you feel worse or you think it is an emergency.
Avoid public transportation: Avoid using public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis.
Stay away from others: As much as possible, you should stay in a specific “sick room” and away from other people in your home. Use a separate bathroom, if available.
Limit contact with pets & animals: You should restrict contact with pets and other animals, just like you would around other people. They can become carriers of your droplets.
